The good news for Georgia is the Bulldogs had a good group of prospects in town this weekend, especially considering they were hosting Tennessee Tech. The bad news is the Dawgs will be on the road or off until their next home game against Auburn on October 5th. Of course we’ll still track everything that is going on with UGA commits and top targets during this time.

Much has happened with this weekend’s visitors and with Georgia at least being able to provide tickets to recruits for the Clemson game. There have been plenty of offers going out as well, especially to 2025 defensive linemen. Here’s the latest in Georgia football recruiting. As always I’ll tell you what I’ve been told, what’s been told to me second hand, and if I’m having to read tea leaves on something:

Let’s talk about the defensive line, where plenty of 2025 offers have gone out. We can go ahead and get out of the way the idea that Georgia is putting defensive line offers out because they’re missing on the top targets. I still expect the two top five star targets to be Dawgs. What I’ve heard and what I believe is Georgia is setting up for the NCAA roster limits to increase from 85 to 105. So who’s been offered and what’s going on with the offensive line?

Let’s start with the two biggest targets:

    - I still fully expect Elijah Griffin to be a Dawg, As a matter of fact, don’t be surprised if/when he takes his official visit to Georgia the October 12th weekend when the Dawgs face Mississippi State. Also don’t be surprised if/when he commits that weekend, as it’s his birthday.

    - I also fully expect Justus Terry to be a Dawg. It may take more time to make his commitment public, as he is going to continue to take visits. He was at Alabama this weekend and will be back in Tuscaloosa when Alabama hosts Georgia. Watch for him to also visit Florida State. No matter where he visits, I’m told directly from folks on the UGA side and from Terry’s side that they would be VERY surprised if he’s not a Dawg commit.

    - I’m told the next biggest target for the 2025 defensive line class is FSU commit Kevin Wynn. Georgia had really turned up the heat on the in-state prospect, even before Christian Garrett flipped to Georgia Tech. He was in Atlanta for the Clemson game and will be in Athens at least once to see the Dawgs in action. I’m told this is the most likely flip at this time.

    - We have to talk about the man, the myth, the legend…………..SEVEN CLOUD! The 6’4 325 pound defensive lineman was an in-state Georgia commit in the 2023 class. The McEachern prospect Committed to the G in January of 2021, but basically disappeared after that. It ends up that the big man quit football altogether and was giving basketball a try. He resurfaced at Butler Community College for the 2023 season, but missed the year due to injury. Cloud is back at Butler and has started the season looking as good as ever. It turns out that Tray Scott has been in contact with the 2025 prospect this whole time and re-offered Cloud on September 3rd. I’m told that this is a legitimate offer and that UGA very much wants Cloud in this class if he handles his business at Butler CC.

There are also a group of high profile defensive line prospects who are committed elsewhere that Georgia has offered or has been in contact with:

    - After his visit this weekend, I’m told that UGA is making a big move for Jeramiah McCloud.. Of course things can change, especially in this day and age of recruiting, but McCloud moving back home to Georgia before the season to play for Lee County and his visit this weekend have put the Dawgs in a good spot to flip the Florida commit. Keep and eye on future visits and watch to see if Georgia keeps the momentum.

    - Rutgers commit Braxton Kyle received an offer from Georgia on August 9th after committing to the Scarlet Knights in early June. The offer from the Dawgs was a huge one for the North Gwinnett prospect and has flip written all over it if defensive line coach Tray Scott makes it a priority. Let’s see if he visits for the Auburn game or Mississippi State game in October before we put him on flip watch.

    - The same goes for Boston College commit Josiah Victor. Georgia offered the Grayson prospect in June and has been in touch. You never say never in recruiting, but he’s one who should be easy to get if Georgia makes him a priority.

    - Jahari Medlock is a 6’6 275 prospect from Drew High School in Riverdale. He committed to Cincinnati in mid-June as an offensive tackle, but Georgia has offered him as a defensive lineman. He plays both in high school, where he has also wrestled and competed on the track team. This recruitment is just in the beginning stages, but Georgia being the home state school obviously has its advantages. I’m told he’ll most likely be in Athens for a game in October.

    - The final defensive lineman that Georgia has recently offered who is committed elsewhere is another Grayson prospect and another Florida commit. Joseph Mbatchou committed to the Gators in late June and received an offer from the Dawgs in mid-August. Watch for the 6’4 275 pounder to be another who makes his way to Athens in October.

There is one last in-state defensive lineman who I’m keeping a close eye on:

    - Only in his second year of football, 6’6 280 pound Christian Ingram has recently seen his recruitment blow up. The former basketball star received an offer from Georgia on September 4th and Alabama on September 9th. Those are the first two programs the Newton High standout will visit. He’ll see the Dawgs twice. Once when Alabama hosts Georgia and he’ll be in Athens when Auburn comes to town. It’s early, but this could very well turn into one of those well known and hard fought battles between the two powerhouses.
